The Author
O.N.E. started with a conversation over breakfast... that turned into lunch. ;) So food had to be a big part of it!
The story is about five students who embark on two school years inside a new teaching program. And we’ll get to witness together how they become each other’s chosen family (and how they cope with the new pressures!).
It's about what it means to grow up and what it means to love, in all the different forms that that takes. And the kindness that, when granted to a stranger, creates rings in water bigger than the first act.
Hi, I'm H.A. Risa.
There’ll be fun and lightness, but also some serious topics. They’ll be growth, love, and - well - you’ll have to stick around to see what else. 😉 I look forward to sharing the story with you.
I wrote every word of it, and Task is doing a magnificent job bringing all the characters to life with her beautiful artwork (isn’t Task’s work beautiful!? A round of applause for that 👏🤩).
I’ve been writing this for a while, and I really like it. I hope you’ll enjoy it too, but I’ll let the story speak for itself.
Thank you for being here. Genuinely.

The Artist
O.N.E. is brought to life on the page by Task Takeuchi, an artist who, like H.A. Risa, prefers to let the work speak for itself. Every panel, every expression, every small detail is hand drawn with a lot of attention and thought.
So feel free to pause on a page, or a panel, and let yourself notice: those details, the face expressions, and the emotion beautifully created in a way that only humans can.
Why two ways of reading
O.N.E. is published in both right-to-left and left-to-right reading formats, from the very first page. Not a flipped or adapted version, but two equal, original versions of the same story.
